Did you fix the offset problem of Speedfan for your version ?
Before a certain beta of 4.34, you need to add 15 degrees. The last beta does it right (no offset needed). Compare your readings with the latest version of CoreTemp.

Also, you're fan is running lots faster then mine on the cooler.

I suppose that's a problem with my case (Antec SOLO). Bad airflow. This is the problem of a small case.

No fix needed, the temp reading of Speedfan is the same as the Gigabyte EasyTune temps.

I still need to open the back a bit more for the airflow, now it's more taken out the case via the powersupply (with 14cm PWM fan). (Need to put an extra fan on back of case).

Give CoreTemp a run and let us know... then I'm convinced .

Indeed, those readings can't be correct. the CPU-temp is higher than the core temps which seems to be quite impossible if you ask me.

I had to ad 15 degrees with speedfan 4.32 after I compared it with the readouts of TAT(Thermal Analysis Tool) from intel.

    My system:

OK I will test it this evening, for the core temps. EasyTune-thingie doesn't give core temps.

But the CPU temp is OK, that was what I meant. Sorry for the confusion

EDIT: Yep, you're right the core temps with coretemp are 15° higher

Get the latest beta from Speedfan, normally you'll get the same readings (15 degrees more then now).

@alpina: Regarding TAT. This tool is not working correctly for a Q6600 from what I've been reading. The only tools that are advised for quad-core's is CoreTemp (latest beta), Speedfan (latest beta). I'm not the expert, I only take advice from others .

@alpina: get us some 333 FSB ... that CPU can do it easily

Yes, I know there were some problems with the TAT-tool, but it still reported 15 degrees higher temps than speedfan. So it somehow seemed to work ok on my cpu.

By the way, the readings in speedfan you can see on the screenshot are not the original temps, I set an offset of 15degrees so the core temps in speedfan are now correct.

I have tried that already in the past but it somehow didn't work out. I think it's the motherboard that isn't cooperating.

On the other hand: I think it's already stunningly fast at 3ghz and I want it to be reasonably silent as well. So for the moment I'll keep it this way.

What motherboard do you have ?

And indeed. 3Ghz is fast. And will be fast for some time to come.
And indeed... silence is beautiful .

this is it. It should be a good overclocker actually.
