Predictor is history for me

After an innocent post in the Predictor forum, in which I supported Saenger's point of view that the rogue user Wake's account be removed, my posting rights were suspended for 2 weeks: "You may not post or rate messages until Apr 6, 2007". This not only happened to me, but also to Saenger and a number of other respected members of the BOINC community.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not really angry. A hobby is not something that should get you upset. But it just confirms to me that this is not a project that is well run. Unless something radically changes, from now on I will have nothing to do with the project.

Since I have to be very balanced and controlled in work- and even some familly situations, a hobby for me is something where I can compensate this I'd be upset, I'm pretty sure.

Well, I admit I was somewhat upset. But now I just find it amusing, and on the other hand sad for the project. Some posters have been banned until 2038, including me, although after my first post I had remained silent. Account creation is closed, and whole ranges of IP addresses have been denied access from the Predictor site. So the new name for the project is Censorship@Home.

This is my personal opinion only, not a BOINC.BE opinion, but I advise everybody to stop supporting this project until there is a change of policy.

Since this thread was first created I have deleted two other threads incorrectly accusing volunteers of cheating.

If someone has installed the boinc client on machines that they do not have permission to that is wrong. I have no way of knowing if this has or hasn't happened. Just because "some guy" posted something on the internet is not good enough reason to take any action against anyone.

i happen to be "some guy" posting something on the internet here, so according to your policy this will not be a good enough reason to take any action against me.

i also happen to be the founder of Team BOINC.BE. Some key members of our team have been following the threads regarding to the "Wake" fraud discovered. (you will know 'm, since you personally banned them here).

i personally think the project admins of Predictor@home are maken a huge mistake here and seem to stick their heads in the sand and will take no further actions. Because of this, most users will detach the predictor project until actions are being taken, which is sad for this interesting project.

Since Predictor@Home is giving in to cheaters, there is no more need for us ,honest crunchers, to take part in this.
