    Smile question about Linux/knoppix and multi cpu's

    Hello all,

    Im since a while in the possesion of a 8cpu machine and would like to contribute my 'power' to this project, however im running Knoppix Linux....

    Is there a way that i can specify to this OS to allocate ALL available cpupower to this calculation project ?

    For now, only 1 cpu is being used, Knoppix 'sees' 8 cpu's..but i have difficulty to find out as a Windows user with parameter to give to Knoppix to do this.

    Any feedback/hints/tips is greatly appreciated !

    Grtz

    What kind of machine is it?

    Seems odd since Boinc is capable to run on multi -CPU systems. Have a look in the general preferences of your project. Look what's in "On multiprocessors, use at most ". It normally defaults to 16 processors but it may vary.

    @Uberfig, for Rosetta the settings Raby mentions are on this page: http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/pr...?subset=global

    What does it say, as max. number of processors to use on multi-processor machines?

    As Raby and Tutta mentioned, this is probably in your project preferences.

    Is that a 64 bit version OS you are running?

    Make sure that in your make.conf you put:
    Makeopts="-j9"
    That allows him to use all the cpu's normally, and as everybody else said allready, make sure your configuration is set at "use a maximum of XX processors when available" where XX is best set to 16, you never know
