Yup yup,
there has been other threads concerning Majestic and our own boinc-project. Working our own project with that sudoku-problem is nice to do. Majestic is also nice. Mayby there is something to do with majestic and boinc together.

It's certainly a good idea to open a thread for Majestic. We're not doing too bad there.
Hi tutta55,
Indeed, I just hooked up one of my slow pc's on it. It brought me back to the time I was thinking of writing my own crawler.
Just watch out for bandwidth usage![]()
Btw, ptagi: Majestic + Boinc = DepSpid. Well, I don't know if they work exactly the same way, but they're both spiders.
We have won another place.
43th now. I have left 1 machine spidering at work during the 4 day long weekend

Nice job Tutta, keep crawling those dark corners of the web![]()
just got a mail from Alex Chudnovsky...
Hi!
Sorry to bother you with this email, but there is a new MJ12node
v1.5.0 release last week with many fixes in data analysis module -
please upgrade it here:
http://www.majestic12.co.uk/projects...h/download.php (for Windows
versions .NET 2.0 build is recommended, unless you had specific
problems with it in the past which made you use .NET 1.1 build)
This new node is now used by about 70% of participants and it would be
great if you could upgrade to it ASAP because I want to add new urls
for new node to improve quality of crawling, it will also upload less
data now and this could actually result in faster crawls due to
smaller usage of upstream!
Thanks for support of the project! If you have got any comments or
feedback about new node please post it here
http://www.majestic12.co.uk/forum/ or respond to this email if you
prefer it this way!
Thanks!
Alex
I just did the upgrade...looks promising. If it would really use less bandwith maybe more members would join...
I will try to keep the node running for another 24h in a couple of days to see the effect on URL's/bandwith
Thanks for the info. When the gauntlet is over, I will reactivate my Majestic clients.
