    Default Proteins@home

    Hi,

Is there someone who knows what the minimum requirements are for the project Proteins@home? The only thing I can find on their site is that it must be running Windows XP, but I noticed there are some other, including myself who has runned it on a windows 2000 or windows 2003 server.

    thanks

There is not much info on their website about this. But I think that by saying "Windows XP only" they mean that their application only runs on recent versions of Windows (including Windows 2000, 2000 Server and 2003 server).

i have run some workunits in the past, and i can't remember having troubles and it being a "heavy" project...

just downloaded a workunit, estimated time to completion : 1 hour (amd athlon xp 3200 , barton core)

will let you know how long it actually took to complete...

just a small warning if you people start crunching Proteins@Home at warp speed ... the workunits take about 0,5 to 1 MB to upload...

burned my "telemeter" on crunching proteins

PS: i now have set my "network usage" from 0H00 till 10H00 (telemeter nachttarief )

Thanks for the warning, the limits are a bit low for these kinds of projects

A little late but now you know why Deri stays UoTD on Proteins@ Home

After much hard work, Proteins@Home is ready for a vacation! We hope to finish all the workunits that are currently on our server or being crunched by volunteers over the next couple of weeks. After that, the project will go offline for a few months. We will be posting a progress report on this web site within a week or two. All participants will be notified by email. Meanwhile, many thanks to all of you for your help and participation!
So Deri, enjoy your everlasting UoTD
