    For those who are interested: Since 2 days they have a 64-bit client and I just successfully crunched my first WU's with it.

    It is, but once again I have deleted my PM's and e-mails that had the code in it. If you want, you can have my Jar Jar Binks account.

    For those who don't follow the Cosmology message boards, I have run a manual test to compare performance of different Cosmology clients. Each time I ran the same work unit.

    * CAMB 1.23 Windows XP: 8'27"
    * CAMB 1.24 Windows XP: 8'32"
    * CAMB 1.24 Ubuntu 7.04/32 (in a VM): 8'48"
    * CAMB 1.24 Ubuntu 7.04/64 (in a VM): 7'15"

    Conclusion is that it is still interesting to run the 64-bit Linux version here.

    Don't worry if there is no indication of progression!

    "Huge" work:
    * CAMB 1.25 Windows XP: ~2h30' with A64 X2 3800+

    Conclusion is that it is still interesting to run the 64-bit Linux version here.
    It is really necessary that I would be motivated for partitioning my hard disk and install Ubuntu…

    If you install Ubuntu be sure that you install the 64-bit version.

    There are 2 possibilities if you want to run Ubuntu :
    - Run it in a VMware client (can be downloaded for free).
    - Or make some space on your 1st Hard disk (for ex. 15 or 20GB).
    Make the 1st partition smaller (not always a safe action)
    and install Ubuntu on the Unpartitioned space.

    Benchmarks have showed that the VMware option is faster then Windows but slower then the Full Ubuntu Installation.
    The only 'advantage' with VMware is that you don't have to reboot your PC is you need to do some Windows actions.
    On the other hand Ubuntu is a free OS , so your computer is installed with a completly legal OS , and for typing a letter 'OpenOffice' is default installed.

    The project has a new URL: http://www.cosmologyathome.org/. The old one will still be available for a while. It is recommended to detach and reattach when convenient.

    The project also had an anynomous info gathering round among the volunteers about who would be suited as moderator...
