Oh how sad, when someone starts to respond to his posts

There are a few Boinc versions that I didn't know existed, like an Ubuntu specific version. I wonder in what that differs from the standard Linux version. My guess is the Boinc Manager GUI.

The team from Debian (from which Ubuntu is derived) packages it together with some start/stop scripts and all the dependencie-stuff for Debian/Ubuntu. Don't know if they do something else to the code

You can install boinc on Ubuntu with the package manager , this version is mostly the ubuntu/debian specific version (mostly it's not the most recent version).

Which boinc version gives the most credit or is there no difference ?
    Which version crunches the fastest?

If I'm not mistaking, the more recent versions are somewhat better in their benchmarks for multi-cpu (or core) machines than the older ones. I would not recommend 5.10.45. It gives problems with at least Cosmology. Nor would I recommend any of the beta versions (6.x.x). For better credits in those projects that still use benchmarks (like Leiden), the non-official optimized clients like that of crunch3r are best. But don't tell anyone I said this.

The Boinc software has no influence on the speed of the science applications. At least it shouldn't. Although there were a few older Boinc versions that themselves used a lot of cpu time. That of course decreased the daily output of the machine.

    A simple question

    http://calbe.dw70.de/boinc_red.html

Already hear something about that ?

It seems to be a client that claims more credit for the same WU.

It seems that there is newer version v5 (I'm still using v3)
Maybe that solves our bug that the client gets blocked.

It is useful for projects like Leiden where the credit is based on your benchmarks, and where the credit which the project gives is low compared to other projects.

But as kdr_98 said, the v3 often crashes/blocks on some machines. That is why I stopped using it after our Leiden stampede. Maybe a newer version solves that.

I just installed it over an older version of it ! The old version was not allowed for the "Pirates@home" project.
So far no problems with the new version. Didn't try it on Pirates@home.
