    Default Claimed / granted credit.

Why is my granted credit sometimes a lot lower as the claimed credit ? These are two WU's, downloaded about the same moment and finished the same time, both crunched on two identical PC's/configurations. One credit gets the claimed credit, the other about half the amount of claimed credit. This is frustrating

The project you run apparently is one of the increasingly rare ones that use "benchmarks" for assigning credit. You no doubt have see that Boinc sometimes does an activity "running CPU benchmarks". It is in fact trying to find out how much a second of cpu time from your machine is worth. But this calculation is far from accurate. So many factors influence it: cpu type (eg Intel vs. AMD), number of cores/cpu's, operating system and last but not least the Boinc version.

This just to say that what you see is "normal" in projects like the one you run. Many projects meanwhile have found an own way of determining how much credits a completed work unit is worth, independent of the benchmarks. This is usually considered the better way of handling credits. For some types of calculation it's not so easy to come up with that kind of scheme though. Certainly in the starting phases of a project, when the development focuses on the application itself, it is usually easier to simply use benchmarks for credit.

    Time for soup now...

I also notice that credits are pending long time with some projects before they are granted. Why is that ?

Some projects wait for another user to complete the WU to have a validation.
That's why you have pending credits

Different users are crunching the same WU's then ? And what if those users are inactive and don't send work for a long time ? You don't get the credit ?

Many projects let different users crunch the same WU to check that the returned results are correct. Incorrect results may have various causes: program bug, overclocked PC giving wrong results, cheating!, ...

Every WU has a deadline. For instance 2 weeks. When a result is not returned within that period, the work is sent out to another participant. So eventually you should get all pending credit. Most of the time.

I got about 1250 pending credits with cosmo. So actually the time my PC's have spent on these WU's isn't showing in the stats soon. What is the "official boinc.be opinion" about this ? Are these kind of projects regarded as not worth the cpu time ?

The credits will come. But since Cosmology is using "Homegenious Redundancy" also called HR redundancy.
All WU's have to be crunched by 2 computers with the same type of CPU.
In some category's of CPU type there are not many machines.
Most of your WU's are just 2 days pending , that's not that long.

I have several WU's waiting for 2 weeks to be granted in 'Virtual Prarrie'
I got 11k in credits and 6,8k credits pending.
This is the worst project I have ever seen, about granting credits.

Projects with lots of pending credit and long deadlines are just as useful as the others. It just takes a bit longer for your credit to come in. But once you work a few weeks on such projects, like Seti, your daily credit gain should start to reach a more or less constant level. For such projects it is of course not so easy to switch and hope that the next days the result will be visible already.
