    Default Benchmarks.

    I have some results from a benchmark that ran on my PC today, but I do not understand the meaning of it. Can someone explain me what these numbers mean

    1/08/2008 13:03:50|| Benchmark results:
    1/08/2008 13:03:50|| 1999 floating point MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU
    1/08/2008 13:03:50|| 3672 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU

    They're a measure for the speed of your cpu. Boinc tries to figure out how many floating point operations and how many integer operations the cpu (or core) can execute per second. These combined values determine how many credits your Boinc client will claim for a second of work. The higher the benchmark values, the more credit 1 second of work of your cpu is worth.

    That benchmark ran when I was using my PC. Would that have inluenced the performance of my CPU ? Can I influence these results by running the benchmark again with very low programs active on my PC ?

    If your PC was doing some CPU intensive calculations at the time, it might influence the benchmarks. If however you were doing some basic work like browsing or writing a document, I doubt it will make much difference. You can try by running the benchmarks manually. In Boinc Manager, you have the menu Advanced. There you find "Run CPU benchmarks"
