    Standaard list of gpu projects

I'll try to summerize, feel free to comment on my mistakes.

First of all, all projects require NVIDIA, except MilkyWay.
Milkyway has ATI client, they're now testing nvidia béta
=> Update: I tried connecting 2 clients to milkyway with ati-3600 series gpu, but no work is comming in for gpu, perhaps because I'm connecting with RDP
appearantly there is a milkyway_gpu project but account creation is closed.

    Boinc Clients:
    • GPUgrid : no ati cards, for windows, linux AND PS3
=> No 64 bit client for windows though it runs under win64
=> No 32 bit client for linux
    • SETI@home and Seti Beta
    • aqua@home (1)
    • Collatz Conjecture (has 64bit client under win'64, seems to give speed increase)
    • einstein@Home (linux and windows) (was beta)
    • Milkyway@Home ATI only, béta for NVIDIA
    • Hydrogen@home -- Only Windows with cuda NEW

    Boinc PS3 only
    • Primegrid

    Non boinc

    (1) participating aqua@home has been under discussion since it's a commercial project (they sell what you calculate for free)

You can find a list of supported gpu's here

GPUGrid lists that they have a 64 bit client for windows, but my vist64 runs a 32 bit client.
(I also see this for other projects which have a x86_64 in the name of the client, but are still 32 bit (*32 is printed after the project name indicating that it is a 32 bit program)

    BTW: thanks for the list

GPUGrid also supports PS3. Originally the project was named PS3grid, and PS3grid is still a synonym for GPUGrid.
AFAIK none of the projects support ATI cards, except MilkyWay where an nVidia client is being tested (ATI client is not a beta) and FAH, which is a non BOINC project.

Thank you very much for this list
Can you please add the minimum requirments for the GPU.
My mGPU9400 ( only 16 streaming cores ) supports CUDA but so far i haven't been able to run 1 project except Seti and there i have the feeling that my CPU is doing al the work.

I added a link to the the supported list of nvidia gpu 's to the top post.
Your's is in it, perhaps on or other setting is not correct at the moment?

chech you profile at the projects website, under preferencens you have to enable that your gpu may be used. (I guess that if you do it for one project it should run for all ??? )

Here is a link to a thread on the GPUGRID forums which shows the details about the supported and recommended GPUs.

The list from nVidia shows that my GPU supports Cuda
The list from GPUGRID states that my GPU is to slow to finish WU's in time

I think i will have to buy a REAL gpu

    From the milkyway forum:
Einstein - CUDA app in BETA, compute capability >= 1.1
Collatz - CUDA in beta, ATI in beta, the ATI app will even run on slow integrated graphics chipsets.
Milkyway - CUDA in beta, compute capability >= 1.3; ATI app requires double precision capable card, (and some zippy SSEx optimized cpu apps)
AQUA- CUDA app has been decommissioned, but they do have a multicore CPU app.
    GPUGRID - CUDA, compute capability >= 1.1
    SETI - CUDA, compute capability >= 1.1

AFAIK none of the projects support ATI cards, except MilkyWay where an nVidia client is being tested (ATI client is not a beta) and FAH, which is a non BOINC project.

And now GPUGrid (PS3Grid originally) completely stops producing WU's for PS3... It's all over for PS3 crunchers for that project...

    (original thread here)
Following this thread and the lack of support of Linux in new PS3:
    http://www.gpugrid.net/forum_thread.php?id=1297

Soon the WUs for PS3 will be over. We do not plan to create new ones. Current users can switch to GPUs which also give a better performance.

Objection on the forums didn't help... final message:

    Hi,
the application that we have on PS3 is not the same of the one we have on GPUs.
If they were the same, that would be not a problem. As they are different, it is not sustainable to keep running on the basis that it is not going to grow. Furthermore, the relative performance compared to GPUs is degrading. New GPUs are 10 times the speed of one PS3 and are also much simpler to use as we support Windows and Linux.

Thanks to all of you and please remember that you can still do BOINC on your PS3 using the other projects that support this architecture.

    gdf
It's all got to do with the fact that Sony is not supporting other OS installations on their new (slim and very ugly) PS3's... So for GpuGrid the marketshare of PS3's won't grow anymore... so they decided to completely abandon PS3... Somehow understandable, but still...

I'm going for Primegrid then... as yoyo seems to be a bit unstable... but quite sad my major crunchermachine is gonna be used far less productive now...

    Greetz,

Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music...
