    Standaard Project update

From now on you can find project updates in this thread.

ClimatePrediction is the project with the biggest WU's, some asking for more then 1500 CPU hours. One thing is for sure and that is that you'll probably never find yourself (or better your CPU's) without work.

The ClimatePrediction draw quite some attention and is regularly discussed in articles in magazines such as in the december edition of "Nature" (for those who don't have a subscription click here)and during the Royal Society Exibition 2005.

For a short movie about the project click here.

The servers are rather stable and almost never down, when they are down then it's most of the time for planned interventions (updates, changes, ...). These interventions are announced some time before.

On the second of january 2006 the next intervention has been announced on the ClimatePrediction website:

"Just a reminder that due to routine maintenance work in Computer Services, the climateprediction.net servers will be down for some or all of 7-9 January. This will affect new workunit downloads, file uploads, trickles, and the BOINC website (hopefully not the central climateprediction.net website). We're sorry for any inconvenience."

    Standaard Re: Project update

Project update on 7 januart 2006,

at the moment the ClimatePrediction project is down. This is due to a planned intervention which was scheduled from 7-9 january. The reason of the downtime is routine maintenance.

The Boinc.be ClimatePrediction team has just passed the milestone of 100 team members. We're currently 101 but only 46 are really active. These crunchers represent nevertheless a RAC of more then 13.400 credits and the team is on the 24rd place in the team rankings. So we are not doing bad at all!

About 3.350 credits of our rac are thanks to Fatsie who is really crunching hard on ClimatePrediction. I'm keeping an eye on you Fatsie , I don't want to loose my first place...

    Standaard Re: Project update

After a very long time I thought it was time for some project updates so just grab yourself a drink, sit back and relax.

BOINC.BE is in 15th position worldwide in the 4th biggest project (in nr of users according to BOINCSTATS) with just over 20 million credits.

A few news facts from their forum:
    November 8th
    Code:
    64-bit Support

People with the 64-bit Boinc Client installed can now download and run
HadSM3 (AKA 'slab') climate models on their system in both Windows/64
and Linux/64. The climate models are 32-bit, so Linux/64 users will
need to enable 32-bit support on their systems (IA32).
    November 9th
    Code:
ClimatePrediction crunchers have now completed over 27 million model
    years!
    Total Model Years 27,036,637.

The number of completed slab runs is increasing rapidly and stands
    at BOINC - 129,663

Far fewer BBC members are now crunching, but coupled models are
still being completed by a valiant bunch. Far more of these have
been completed than the researchers at first thought possible.

    HadCM3L Transient Runs
    21,750
    BOINC - 13,243
    BBC - 8,507

Many thanks to members of all climate projects for your contributions.

    REMINDER
CPDN members can select the type of model they want for their next download
on the project preferences page of their account.
