Dear malariacontrol.net alpha tester
We are happy to announce that we have completed our first phase of testing and have set up a new server with the project's definite URL
http://www.malariacontrol.net
This server is hosted by the Centre Universitaire d'Informatique (CUI) and the Division Informatique (DINF), at University of Geneva.
We would like to thank all of you very much for helping with the tests, and especially for the very useful feedback you provided during the last few months!
We are now ready to start beta testing, with the following objectives:
-Performance of our server backend under increased load. We initially limit the number of user accounts to 500. Account creation will be enabled later this week or early next week.
-Validation of results. This will involve comparison of malariacontrol.net result data with results from the pre-BOINC Malariamodel software.
Your user account:
We have moved your user account and profile data to the new server. Please stop requesting work from
http://africa-home4.cern.ch/malariaControl and detach from this server when you are out of work.
Attach your client to the new URL
http://www.malariacontrol.net
if you would like to be part of the next phase of malariacontrol.net.
Credit:
Note that your credit is reset to zero on the new server. We will add your total credit from the alpha server to your new account as soon as there are no more active users on
http://africa-home4.cern.ch/malariaControl, no later than a week from today.
The alpha server will then be shut down, although we may use an alpha server again at later stage of the project.
Forum:
We have decided not to move the threads to the new server, as most of the discussion concerns older application version.
We would like to add the Volunteer Tester title to your name in the forum. Note that you will become Forum Administrator at the same time. Please reply to this email if you are interested.
Many thanks for your help!
